Nischelle Turner is out here making Black history and its not even February. Turner is set to become the first Black woman to anchor Entertainment Tonight. She will step into the position alongside co-anchor, Kevin Frazier. Together, Turner and Frazier will be the first Black duo to ever lead the program.
“It means everything to me. Make no mistake about it: I believe and have always believed that I was the best person for the job, but it was never lost on me that it was also bigger than just me. I would be representing an underserved group of people who are finally getting a moment in the spotlight — and a well-deserved moment,” she said during a recent interview.
“I do feel like that’s rarefied air in television, especially news magazines to stand with those women. I’ve looked at their careers for my whole career; I’ve taken bits and pieces from their style.”
Prior to earning this role, Turner has worked as a journalist for two decades. Most recently, she worked as the weekend host of Entertainment Tonight. In this role, she won four Emmy Awards. She has also worked as a sideline reporter during FOX NFL broadcasts. Not to mention, she starred as an entertainment reporter for CNN.
