The Serbian center led the charge this season in a Denver team that had their second and third best players sidelined for the entire season because of injuries. The Nuggets won 48 games this season which allowed them to secure a spot in the postseason as the sixth seed in the Western Conference.
Jokic averaged career-highs of 27.1 points and 13.8 rebounds per game with 7.9 assists to rank in the top-8 this season. The former second-round pick also became the first player in NBA history to record 2.000 points, 1.000 rebounds, and 500 assists in a single season.
When the league makes the official announcement and gives Jokic the trophy, he will be the 15th player in the history of the league to win the award multiple times and the most recent back-to-back winner since Giannis Antetokounmpo.
