The Arizona Wildcats have had a rough time capturing the interest of recruits since the scandal involving head coach Sean Miller, but the 2019 class was bolstered by talented home state prospect Nico Mannion. The five-star point guard is ranked as the number one prospect from Arizona in 2019 and 13th overall in the nation. The Phoneix native will travel south and play college basketball in Tucson, Arizona. Mannion is listed at 6’3″ and 180 pounds. Arizona did not manage to land a five-star in the 2018 class, but Mannion is a good start for 2019.
Mannion is a very promising point guard prospect for Arizona. The Italian American point guard will likely be a one and done prospect. Mannion was pretty much a lock for Arizona, but he did consider Villanova. Arizona landing this guard could help them elsewhere. The Wildcats are in the running for several other five-stars. Mannion needs to add a little weight after getting to Arizona, but his upside should be tantalizing. 2018 may be a rough year for the Wildcats, but 2019 is starting to look up.
The Wildcats are attempting to move past the issues with Sean Miller and Deandre Ayton. The addition of a five-star athlete is certainly a move in the right direction. The Arizona state prospect should be an instant starter and highlight reel for the Wildcats. Arizona fans should quickly fall in love with the guard when he suits up in Tucson.
