Selma Blair and Nicholas Cage have signed onto “Mom and Dad”, an upcoming independent thriller from Brian Taylor, who has also written the script.
According to Variety, the film will follow a teenage girl and her younger brother, who must survive a 24-hour mass hysteria of unknown origins – a hysteria that causes parents to turn violently on their own children. Blair and Cage will play the siblings’ parents.
Blair most recently starred in Lee Kirk’s comedy-drama “Geezer”, which premiered in April at the Tribeca Film Festival. The film received positive reactions from the audience.
Nicholas Cage can be seen in “The Trust”, a crime film released in Video-On-Demand. Later this year, Cage will appear in several more films – “Dog Eat Dog”, “USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage”, “Army of One”, and “Snowden”.
Christopher Lemole and Tim Zajaros are producing on behalf of Armory films, with Jere Hausfater and Cassian Elwes as executive producers through Zeal Media Co. XYZ Films is also executive producing.
Production on “Mom and Dad” is scheduled to start at the end of 2016.
