Ian Rapoport from NFL Network reported on Tuesday that the NFL owners have approved a change to the current postseason overtime rules which guarantees an offensive possession to both teams.
Playing Rule Proposal 1 was amended. Both teams are now guaranteed a possession in overtime — but it’s now postseason only. It was approved, per source.

The rule proposed by the Philadelphia Eagles and Indianapolis Colts received 29 on-favor votes and only three owners didn’t support the proposal.
The conversation about a change to the overtime rules sparked up after the Kansas City Chiefs won the coin toss and defeated the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Round. Since 2010, teams that won the coin toss in overtime are 10-2 in the postseason.
In addition, the Competition Committee passed the rule to make permanent the free-kick formation change that was implemented in the 2021 season to establish a maximum number of players in the setup zone.
