With the Texans signing Ryan Mallet and Brian Hoyer last week 32 year old quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick became the odd man out in Houston.
According to NFL media insider Ian Rapoport the Jets have acquired Fitzpatrick from the Texans in exchange for a late round pick. The Jets are still hoping for Geno Smith to turn his career around, but in the mean time Fitzpatrick provides a cheap stop gap and veteran competition for Smith with his knowledge of Chan Gailey’s system from his time in Buffalo.
