During Sunday’s Grammys, Disney dropped a new trailer for the upcoming live-action version of Aladdin. The short trailer didn’t reveal too much, most of the shots were only a few seconds long. However, the trailer DID finally give us a look at Will Smith in action as the Genie. We also got a look at Naomi Scott as Jasmine and the infamous Cave of Wonders.
Check out the new trailer below:
It’s nearly impossible to gauge Smith’s performance based off the short moment shown in the trailer but one thing’s for sure: it won’t be easy for him to follow in the footsteps of Robin Williams. However, if there’s one person equipped to bring the Genie alive for a new generation, then it’s Smith.
The new film from director Guy Ritchie will feature newly-recorded versions of the original’s songs from composer Alan Menken and lyricists Howard Ashman and Tim Rice. Meken also wrote two new songs for the film with Tony Award-winning songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
Aladdin hits theaters worldwide later this year on May 24th.
