Brooklyn Nets are bring an international basketball powerhouse to New York in October. No, the team hasn’t signed any big overseas star but they will be hosting a game with some former NBA talent and overseas prospects.
The Nets will be hosting Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul of the Turkish Basketball league in a preseason game on October 5th at the Barclays Center, the Nets announced earlier today in an official press release.
Nets General Manager Billy King announced it today, saying
“We are excited to be hosting Fenerbahce, as it will be a reunion for Bojan Bogdanovic with his former team,” said King. “Our fans will have an opportunity to see one of the best coached teams in all of Europe when they come to Brooklyn.”
Fenerbahce has some former NBA players on their team including their newest additions over the summer. Forwards Pero Antic, who departed for Fenerbahce after playing for the Atlanta Hawks the last two seasons, Luigi Datome, who was a member of the Boston Celtics last season and former Los Angeles Clippers reserve Ekpe Udoh, who is reportedly the newest player to depart the NBA for Fenerbahce, are all a part of their current roster.

The star of Fenerbahce last season was the league’s MVP, Nemanja Bjelica, who left the team to join the Minnesota Timberwolves and their young and exciting roster.
For the Nets, one of their current players will be getting a chance to play against his old team. Brooklyn swingman Bojan Bogdanovic will be facing off against the successful Turkish franchise that he led to the Turkish Basketball League Championship in 2013-14.
