Ever since Netflix dropped ‘Narcos’ back in the summer of 2015, the network has made a concerted effort to provide more programming of that ilk. ‘The Mechanism’ takes that ball and runs with it all the way to Brazil to focus on a massive corruption and money laundering scheme. The names in the story have been fictionalized, though the story is loosely based upon alleged corruption within the Brazilian government and private oil and construction companies.
The show looks to continue a string of original content hit’s for Netflix in 2018, coming off the tails the highly praised ‘The End Of The F***ing World’. The streaming giant also has the big budget ‘Altered Carbon‘ dropping on February 8th.
‘The Mechanism’ is set to debut on March 23rd, exclusively on Netflix. We’ve attached the trailer and official synopsis below.
‘Get ready to join a small group of dogged investigators on the hunt to discover the inner workings of the biggest corruption scheme of all time and the impact their pursuit will have on everyone involved – including themselves. From José Padilha (Narcos, Elite Squad 1 & 2, RoboCop) and Elena Soarez (Filhos do Carnaval, Eu Tu Eles, Casa de Areia), The Mechanism premieres March 23rd, 2018.’ Via Netflix
