NBA Youngboy is back with new music. For the third year in a row, the Louisiana native has returned with a full-length studio album. This time around, his latest body of work is entitled The Last Slimeto. Complete with nearly three dozen tracks, the project features Quavo, Rod Wave and Kehlani.
The Last Slimeto serves as the follow-up to Sincerely, Kentrell. Released in September 2021, the 23-track project debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart and was certified gold by the RIAA. Since then, NBA Youngboy has returned with the Colors mixtape and teamed up with Birdman for From The Bayou. Most recently, he tapped in with DaBaby and dropped a joint project called Better Than You.
Leading up to the release of The Last Slimeto, NBA Youngboy has found himself in a bit of legal trouble. In March 2021, federal agents in Los Angeles issued a warrant for his arrest in connection to an incident in Baton Rouge months later. When authorities attempted to stop the vehicle he was allegedly in, officers claim he fled on foot. Ultimately, he was found and hit with federal firearms charges. More than a year later, he was found not guilty due to a lack of evidence connecting him to the weapon in question. Moving forward, the Louisiana native must face six drug and firearms-related charges in his home state of Louisiana. NBA Youngboy has pleaded not guilty to all charges levied against him.
Despite his recent legal setbacks, NBA Youngboy appears to be moving forward with his music career. Recently, he sparked rumors by stating that he had signed a $60 million deal with Atlantic Records. The label has not commented on the artist’s statements, but he has certainly cemented himself as one of the biggest artists in the country at the moment.
