A couple of weeks ago Kyrie Irving was asked on Shaquille O’Neal’s podcast, how detrimental the injuries of Kyrie and Love were to the Cavaliers Finals run against the Warriors. Kyrie, responded like any other angry player, saying that without their injuries they would have won. He was certain of it. Draymond Green isn’t so sure. After signing his almost max-extension with the Warriors to stay for another 5 years, Draymond came to the defense of his championship.
According to Steve Berman of Bay Area Sports Guy’s (via CBS Sports):
An exert from Draymond Green’s interview:
“Larry O’Brien resides in Oakland, California. So, you know, if I was 6’11”, I think I could be like Anthony Davis.”
“But I’m not. And I’m not like Anthony Davis,” he continued. “We all got our ifs in life. If this would’ve happened, I would be doing this. If that would’ve happened, I would be doing that. But if ‘if’ was a fifth, we all would be drunk right now.”
Draymond has a point. No one will ever be sure. It’s like saying what if Michael Jordan didn’t play his flu game? What if LeBron never left Cleveland? There’s too much uncertainty to provide us with a true answer. The Warriors are the 2015 NBA Champions, no real excuses about that. The Cavaliers & Kyrie Irving will still have something to say about that in 2016. So will the Spurs.
