Karl Anthony Towns is projected to be potentially the 1st overall pick for this years NBA Draft. The Kentucky Wildcats Center dominated with his crew of ‘almost’ undefeated teammates, and now he is looking to take his talents to potentially Minnesota, Los Angeles, or Philly. Either one of those places would love to have a guy like him. So now that we know he is going to be good in the NBA, do we really need to let him go to team workouts before the NBA Draft? He doesn’t need it!
According to Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog.com:
Projected No. 1 draft pick Karl-Anthony Towns will interview with the top two teams in the NBA Draft lottery — the Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Lakers — but won’t workout for any teams, sources told SNY.tv. …
Towns is working out in Los Angeles with former UCLA star Don MacLean, who raved to SNY.tv about Towns’ potential and work ethic.
“I’ve been doing this for 11 or 12 years pre-draft,” MacLean, the leading scorer in Pac-12 and UCLA history, previously told SNY.tv. “Because I had a lot of top 10 picks and a lot of really good players, I’m not really impressed or blown away. I had Towns all last week and I was blown away. Blown away.”
Some players do choose to miss the team workouts and it’s because they don’t want to over exert themselves. Karl Anthony Towns was previously linked to becoming a New York Knick, but the Knicks slipped to 4th in the Draft with their pick. Towns is going to be an immediate impact to any team he comes on, his size and presence will be interesting to a young Timber Wolves team, a mess of a Lakers team, or an interesting situation in Philadelphia with 3 young talented big.
