World Boxing Organization (WBO) Super Featherweight Champion Emanuel Navarrete underwent surgery to repair an injured left hand. The Mexican fighter says the left-hand injury worsened as he fought Oscar Valdez and prevented him from performing at his best. Moving forward, he hopes to return to the ring early next year.
“I consulted with my team and with my doctor, and we made the decision to treat ourselves immediately.
I will keep you informed how the recovery is going, but I am sure that in the first months of 2024 we will be ready for the new challenges that arise,” he told his fans.
“I am a Mexican warrior who will never shive from any challenge or commitment, but out of respect for you and my career, I will not give up any advantage again.”
Navarrete defended his world title against Robson Conceição last month in Las Vegas, Nevada. In a hotly contested, 12-round battle, the WBO champion was able to retain his title as the judges scored the bout a majority draw.
