If you were to Google the word, Mychelle, right now, beauty products may show up. In a few years, the face of a London singer-songwriter may appear when the same phrase is searched.
Just a few years ago, Mychelle was performing near the subway in hopes of getting noticed. While this method of getting noticed typically fails, it worked for a London based artist with the voice of a star. Not only did her subway set catch the attention of FAMM, but it also captured the imagination of Idris Elba, who put her on his Yardie Mixtape back in 2019. Since then, she has spent the last three years delivering her debut EP, Closure, and sharing the stage with Jorja Smith.
As the new year gets off to a fast start, Mychelle is ready to begin her 2022 campaign with a new single called 2022. Reflecting on her younger years and the things she endured to reach this point of her career, she writes a love letter to a young Mychelle who could’ve used a boost of support way back when.
“I wrote ‘Younger Self’ on my guitar at home. It is a song where I am literally talking to my younger self and helping me navigate my way through Love,” she said about the record in a press release.
Mychelle will take her talents on the road later this month as the opening act for Maverick Sabre’s upcoming tour. Before she hits the stage, check out “Younger Self” below.
