I’m excited about this one. But with anything that’s new or unfamiliar, it needs a backstory.
Back in September, I had the pleasure of seeing The Internet perform at a local venue. With no clue as to who was opening for the band or even if there were any openers at all, to my excitement, two eclectic black women took to the stage and delivered a set that I wouldn’t have expected. Capturing the attention of the crowd, while simultaneously drifting into their own world, I was instantly captivated. Immediately joining their movement via social media, it was through their introductory performance to me that I became a new fan.

St. Beauty is comprised of Alex Belle and Isis, who are signed to Janelle Monae’s melting pot of creatives, Wondaland Records. Their debut single, ‘Going Nowhere,’ lives on Wondaland Records’ debut EP, Wondaland Presents: The Eephus, and the ladies’ tune is best described as a moody slow groove that highlights the individual personalities of the duo, but equally describes St. Beauty as a whole. What is nothing short of a great start for the two, there’s an obvious potential for so much more as St. Beauty is nothing short of a refreshing addition to the music industry. Described by St. Beauty as an “emotion picture,” step into their world and watch the ‘Going Nowhere’ visual, below.
