UPDATE: Mookie Betts and the Los Angeles Dodgers are in agreement on a 12-year, $365 million contract that will be tacked onto his $27 million he is on tap for in 2020.
In a time where the last thing to be expected is a mega-deal in Major League Baseball, here comes the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers have reportedly agreed to an at least 10-year, $350 million contract with former Most Valuable Player (MVP) Mookie Betts.
Star outfielder Mookie Betts and the Los Angeles Dodgers are deep into negotiations on a long-term contract, sources tell ESPN. While the language of the deal is not completed, the expectation is that Betts will be signing a massive deal with the Dodgers in the coming days.

The Dodgers seem to be trying to get things down to business and ensure they have Betts as a part of their franchise for a long time. Things are going to be interesting to see how the official contract is drawn up.
The Dodgers will have to find a way to work in a tremendous amount of money in a time where there is no guarantee that fans will be back in the stadium for the foreseeable future. The Dodgers will most likely see the details of this contract be interesting given the circumstances because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Betts was traded to the Dodgers in a blockbuster trade that had it seeming that he may not suit up for a Dodgers regular-season game barring an agreement between the MLB and MLBPA.
In 2018, Betts was incredibly good, taking home the American League MVP award, but scaled back in 2019 just a bit. In 2019, Betts suited up for 150 games where he hit .295/.391/.524 with 29 home runs and 80 RBI swiping 16 bags along the way as well.
Hopefully, the Dodgers can get the final details done so that Betts can get locked up alongside 2019 NL MVP Cody Bellinger for years to come.
