
What a time to be alive. Over 20 years after her Supa Dupa Fly debut album, Missy Elliott is still breaking chains and making history.
So much more than a female rapper, Missy goes on continue to pave the way for women within Hip-Hop. Being announced as one of the official inductees into the 2019 Songwriters Hall of Fame class, Missy Elliott becomes the first female rapper to hold this honor. Being celebrated not only for her own body of work, but it is also to be known that Missy Elliott has penned hits for several others within the music industry. Overall, she only becomes the third rapper, alongside JAY-Z and Jermaine Dupri. Joined by Dallas Austin, John Prine, and more for this year’s honor, Missy took to social media to share her gratitude and excitement.
