The Bucks have been rebuilding for quite some time and they feel that they’re on the right track this time. With the selection of Jabari Parker it sealed the fate of Ersan Ilyasova who’ve been rumored last season and now in the off season to be on the market. The Bucks may have to sweeten the deal with a pick for a team to take on his contract. The Bucks owe Ilyasova $24 million over 3 years and couldn’t pray any harder to lose this contract for their sake. Ilyasova was a big part of The Bucks in the 2012-2013 season which led to the big signing of Ersan. With The Bucks having John Henson, Larry Sanders, Antetokounmpo, and Jabari Parker in the mix playing time would be limited if he was brought back to the roster.
Ilyasova can certainly help a team in need of shooting and with Houston,Detroit, or The Warriors in need of shooters I can see them taking Ilyasova off The Bucks hands. Ilyasova is a career 36% shooter from beyond the arc, but shot 45%(11-12) and 44%(12-13) so we’ve seen him have success I think last seasons setback was due to injuries, besides what didn’t go wrong for The Bucks last season. Another important thought is Ersan’s last season is partially guaranteed which could help sway teams decision to pursue. If The Bucks can unload Ilysova’s contract it’ll be a positive thing to undo the log jam at the Forward position and you don’t want to have a player making $8 million a season just sitting on your bench. It’s reported that Ilyasova is being shopped very aggressively so something could happen pretty soon.
