Over the course of the past 2 years, Miley Cyrus has made headlines for almost every reason possible. From the good, bad, and controversial, somehow Miley Cyrus has manage to be a constant topic of discussion. Playing it cool for the past few months, the singer launched back into discussion as she will be the host of this year’s MTV VMAs. Along with this honor, the ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer also covers the September issue of Marie Claire magazine. Among the topics of her body and sexuality, Miley gave her thoughts on the likes of her fellow music industry peers, Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift.
On Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” video: “I don’t get the violence revenge thing. That’s supposed to be a good example? And I’m a bad role model because I’m running around with my titties out? I’m not sure how titties are worse than guns.”
On sexism and her sexuality: “There is so much sexism, ageism, you name it. Kendrick Lamar sings about LSD and he’s cool. I do it and I’m a druggie whore.”
Putting it simple, this easily comes off as elementary. While making valid points, instead questioning the likes of Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar and their art, the questions should be formed towards the general public who ultimately forms and shape the widespread opinion of those in the spotlight. Not only that, it seems that Ms. Cyrus has mistaken Kendrick Lamar for A$AP Rocky, who took fans on a wild ride with his trippy record, ‘L$D’. Nevertheless, it seems that Miley Cyrus wants the same treatment as her other peers but may not realize that her actions come as off-putting or attention seeking to the vast majority.
