Scott played a key role as a reserve for the Wizards last season, serving as one of their only offensive contributors off the bench. With the Clippers overloaded with guard talent, they’ve quietly done a solid job of bolstering their thinned out frontcourt rotation in the past few weeks.
In preparation for the departure of free agent DeAndre Jordan, the Clippers swung a trade for Marcin Gortat and have now added power forward Mike Scott. Following the star duo of Blake Griffin and Jordan, the Clippers will now likely start Gortat at center alongside forward Tobias Harris.
With the Scott signing, the Clips boosted their depth at the position as well, as he, free agent Montrezl Harrell and Boban Marjanovic can all contribute in varying capacities. Scott played the most minutes of his six-year career last season in Washington and should be ready for a major role with a Clippers team that is likely to be an afterthought in the Western Conference.
