Former First Lady Michelle Obama makes her festival début this summer, slated to host a conversation during the 2019 ESSENCE Festival in New Orléans.
Announced May 16, Michelle Obama takes over the ESSENCE Festival stage discussing her book, the next steps she plans to take in life and more conversation. The event takes place over the duration of the July 4 holiday weekend. Michelle Obama hits the Superdome mainstage on Saturday, July 6.
“We are indescribably thrilled and honored to have ‘Forever First Lady’ Michelle Obama as a part of our 25th Anniversary Essence Festival, which will mark our most exciting and extensive programming to date,” says Michelle Ebanks, Essence Communications CEO.
Performers during the 25th annual ESSENCE Festival include Missy Elliott, H.E.R., City Girls and more. Comedienne Loni Love serves as host for the event.
