The Golden State Warriors latest speed bump could have been avoided if they did not stumble last week with two shocking losses at home, one to a playoff team and one to a team in the draft lottery. Yet despite those losses the Warriors rebounded and defeated three straight playoff teams, including the San Antonio Spurs twice to place them at 72 wins on the season.
With one game to go, the Warriors just need to defeat the depleted Memphis Grizzlies at home and the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors will hold the record for the best regular season in NBA history. While there have been those to speak up about whether or not they care about the record there has been one person who spoke to Draymond Green about breaking the record. Michael Jordan.
Following from Diamond Leung of Bay Area News Group.
“We’ve put ourselves in a great position to end the season with a win and do something that no team has done in history, so that’s an amazing accomplishment,” Curry said.
“Go get the record,” Draymond Green said, smiling as he recalled what Jordan told him during All-Star festivities in February. “Y’all don’t win this record, I’m going to be hot, and I’m blaming you.”
Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who holds the distinction of being a part of both 72-win teams, said half-jokingly that most of his former Bulls teammates from the famed 72-10 squad will “mutter expletives under their breath.” Around the time Kerr spoke, Scottie Pippen and Ron Harper tweeted their congratulations to the Warriors.
Phil Jackson also joined his former players in congratulating the Dubs.
