At his “Flight School” camp, Michael Jordan was asked by a camper whether he would rank LeBron James over Kobe Bryant on his list of best basketball players of all time. Jordan picked Kobe over LeBron because #ringz:
“There’s something about five that beats three. Now he may be better than that, but Kobe won five championships. LeBron won three. Although he’s been to seven.”
There was a time when Kobe vs. LeBron was the most prevalent conversation among hoop fans. By now, most have accepted that James has overtaken Bryant on the all-time ladder and have moved onto LeBron vs. Jordan.
While we’re counting rings, Jordan won six of them during his career, winning all six of the finals that his team made it to.
Obviously, there’s much more to the conversation of greats than just rings. After all, the six players with the most championships in NBA history were all on those 1960s Celtics teams, and the only one who’s in the GOAT discussion is Bill Russell.
On Tuesday, also at the Flight School camp, Jordan hosted guest Scottie Pippen, and the two shot hoops together once again. Pippen won six championships with Jordan.
