Charles Oakley and James Dolan have publicly had an issue for years and last week it was put out for everyone to see on national television. Oakley was forcibly ejected from Madison Square Garden and he blames Dolan for his ejection and subsequent arrest.
But over the weekend, Dolan and the Knicks brought in a bunch of Knicks legends including Latrell Sprewell who hasn’t been in MSG for over 13 years due to his spat with Dolan. Now it appears the NBA is hoping Dolan and Oakley can mend some fences but it will take some assistance and that could come in the form of two prominent figures in the NBA.
Commissioner of the NBA Adam Silver and Charlotte Hornets owner and NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan are reportedly being enlisted in helping the two parties come together.
Following from Frank Isola of the New York Daily News.
According to a source, the league office is considering having NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Michael Jordan step in to mediate a reconciliation.
It is unclear when that meeting, likely via a conference call, would take place but there was a chance it would be either Monday or Tuesday.
The meeting did indeed happen and the NBA released a statement from Adam Silver. The release stated that Charles Oakley will indeed be permitted back in MSG and he is no longer banned.
