Bursting onto the NBA scene in 2013-14 with a prolific rookie season, Michael Carter-Williams has been on a steady decline since then. However, Carter-Williams will now have a chance to resurrect his once promising career on a contending team.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Carter-Williams has agreed to a one-year veteran’s minimum deal with the Houston Rockets.

The Houston Rockets are on the search for bolstering their roster with extra talent through free agency after a disappointing finish to their season which had championship aspirations.
After losing Trevor Ariza to the Phoenix Suns, the Rockets lost a big part of their three-point production. While Michael Carter-Williams is far from the solution the Rockets are in need of, he could provide playmaking off the bench.
However, with one of James Harden and Chris Paul on the floor for all 48 minutes of their contests, it will be interesting to see how Carter-Williams fits into their rotation. Once an exciting young guard, Carter-Williams will now likely be one of the last people on the bench for the Houston Rockets.
MCW should be able to alleviate any depth issues they have in their backcourt though as things get rather thin behind Harden, Paul, and Eric Gordon. Now with Ariza gone and an additional guard added to their roster, the Rockets must turn all their attention to ensuring they retain restricted free agent Clint Capela.
