In the winter of 1976, Sylvester Stallone brought the story of a down-on-his-luck boxer by the name of Rocky Balboa to the big screen. Little did the world know, the world that Stallone helped create would be around nearly fifty years later.
In just under a month, Michael B. Jordan will make his directorial debut as Creed III makes its way into theaters. Joined by Tessa Thompson and Jonathan B. Majors, Jordan will tell the story of Adonis Creed as he handles the return of his childhood friend Damien “Dame” Anderson. After finishing a lengthy prison sentence, Anderson wants to return to the ring and seeks out the help of Creed. Unfortunately, things hardly go as planned and their friendly reunion quickly turns into a bitter rivalry.
The hype for Creed III is still building as J. Cole’s Dreamville rolls out the movie’s soundtrack and Jordan makes his press run. With that said, the Newark, New Jersey native is ready to take the keys to the film franchise. During a recent interview, the first-time director said there are already plans for another chapter of the franchise.
“I just want to expand the Creed-verse within reason, but definitely expect other things around Creed for sure,” he explained.
Before fans can look toward the future, they must first get through the fight that’s on the books. Check out the Creed III trailer below before it arrives in theaters on March 3, 2023.
