As XXL drops the 2019 XXL Freshman cypher clips introducing their latest class of Hip Hop talent to the world, Megan Thee Stallion and Da Baby prove their talent.
Earning a spot on XXL’s Freshman List can make or break a young rapper’s mainstream career. Many fans of Hip Hop and pop culture are introduced to new artists through the XXL platform. Making the list means the artists survived fan votes, auditions, freestyles proving they could live up to the hype.
Both Megan Thee Stallion and Da Baby grew fan bases through social media, mixtapes, EPs, and albums ahead of their selection. The two artists shared their cypher with Florida artist YK Osiris and Seattle’s Lil Mosey who both delivered lackluster performances compared to their southern counterparts.
The cypher began with Lil Mosey who admittedly did not like the provided beat. Megan Thee Stallion came second, bringing necessary energy to the entire session, bopping back and forth rapping her hot girl lyrics. Following Thee Stallion is YK Osiris, using his vocal ability to sing through his bars. Lastly Da Baby closed out with line after line of pure fire.
