Meek Mill is putting his money where is mouth his. With the release of his second studio album, Dreams Worth More Than Money, and the promotion being at the bare minimum before its release, some were left wondering how that would reflect in sales. Well, it looks like history has repeated itself again as less is more and Meek Mill soared all the way to the #1 spot of the Billboard Top 200.
Clocking in with a grand total of 246,000 SPS (sales plus streaming), this not only marks Meek Mill’s highest opening week, but it also marks his first #1 album on the Billboard Top 200. Right behind him is Miguel’s Wildheart, which debuted at #2 with 48,000 SPS. While longevity is the most important, many will look at this number to see if Frank Ocean can topple that tally upon his release, due to Miguel’s recent comments. Wildheart, too, holds the honor of being Miguel’s highest debut on the Billboard Top 200.
Furthermore, with the release of Dreams Worth More Than Money, Meek holds the distinct honor of having the 4th largest opening week of 2015, thus far, and 3rd for Hip-Hop releases behind Drake (495,00) and Kendrick Lamar (324,000). Nevertheless, congratulations are in order for both Meek Mill and Miguel as they top the charts this week.
