A pastor in Philadelphia is attempting to lead a boycott/ban of Meek Mill’s single “Amen”. Rev. Jomo K. Johnson has been going out of his way to lead the boycott and even threatens writing a book exposing Meek’s “blasphemy”. The two parties called into Hot 107.9 for a heated debate. Meek, clearly offended and enraged, had many valid points to make.
Meek’s side was that the pastor was looking for fame. He says that the reverend was looking for attention by defaming him. He even stated that if the pastor and his church needed money he would’ve helped them.
Johnson’s side is that Meek Mill’s lyrics are encouraging rape and violence. Meek- and I’m sure many others as well- feel that this is a common theme in hip-hop and media and isn’t something that only he is guilty of.
The whole argument is here for you to listen to. Rev. Johnson does a lot of preaching to Meek and accuses him of encouraging rape and a multitude of other things. Meek is clearly fired up throughout the conversation.
