As the start of free agency began Patrick Beverley has become a big target for a lot of teams with the Cavs and Knicks most surprising.
The Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets were the first two teams to reach out to Patrick Beverley, per sources. #TexasRivalry

The Mavericks and Rockets were the first teams that reached out obviously, but the Rockets have their hands tied with trying to land either LaMarcus Aldridge or Kevin Love.
Beverley is one of the better defensive point guards in the game, and is known for his feistiness on defense.
The Mavericks could use a player like Beverley at the point guard position and can offer him the starting point guard role, and may offer more than what the Rockets are willing to give him.
Not only can the Mavericks pry Beverley away it would be a blow to a Rockets team that can’t afford to lose a player like Beverley.
Obviously, rumors fly left and right on the opening of NBA free agency but these rumors have traction as all the reported teams have a need at point guard.
Beverley can add depth to a team like the Mavericks or the Cavaliers and gives them immediate defensive help on the perimeter.
Daryl Morey is crafty, but can he convince Beverley to stay for possibly less money?
