Dallas Mavericks outspoken and often controversial, one of a kind owner, Mark Cuban, has voiced his opinion before on the way that the NBA should conduct it’s All-Star voting, especially considering the level of tough competition in the NBA’s Western Conference.
When you look at the Western Conference standings and see that there 7 teams that have 30 wins, with a little under 50 games played, you can already tell which conference is the toughest in the NBA.
The Dallas Mavericks currently sit 7th in the West due to a recent unforgiving slide that has them on a season-high 4 game losing streak as well as going 11-9 in their last 20 games, which is also the same amount of games they’ve played since acquiring Rajon Rondo from the Boston Celtics.
With all that on the team you can now add another cause for some moans and groans in Big D thanks to the 2015 NBA All-Star Game player selections.
There are no Mavericks in this years NBA All-Star Game. Mavs are the only 30 win team in the NBA this season to not have an All-Star and Cuban isn’t happy.
When I asked about the 2015 NBA All-Star Game and the lack of Mavericks involved in it, over his new social media app, Cyberdust, Cuban simply had 2 words for me.
Not Happy.
Not many Mavericks fans are happy either with the lack of Mavs in the game and there can be a case made for at least 2 players to be All-Stars.
Before the season, Cuban said he didn’t think there would be any 20 point scorers on the team this season but the statistics currently say otherwise.
Monta Ellis leads the team in scoring at 20.5 points per game and was considered the strongest candidate to make the game, alongside 12-time NBA All-Star, Dirk Nowitzki.
Fact of the matter is, when it was all said and done, no Mavericks were selected by the fans as a starter or by the coaches as a reserve and even commissioner Adam Silver didn’t pick a Maverick to replace the injured Kobe Bryant.
Cuban might actually have a valid argument about none of his guys making the Western Conference All-Star team but it would be a tough sell for sure.
