The Dallas Mavericks got their big time signings of the off-season and now they’ll turn their focus on filling out the rest of the roster with very familiar faces.
One player that is in search of his first NBA championship in his 14 years of professional basketball in Richard Jefferson, and one player that helped the Mavericks to their first ever NBA championship J.J. Barea.
J.J. Barea had some interest from the Miami Heat, but it’s seemed to die down a bit with talks with the team fading after Barea reportedly wanted a 3 year deal which Dallas might be more willing to give.
Jefferson more than likely will sign for the veterans minimum to help Dallas for salary purposes.
Richard Jefferson played in 74 games last season giving the Mavericks 5 points per game filling a solid role off the bench while J.J. Barea came up big giving us flashbacks of the 2010-2011 championship season.
Barea in 5 games played in the post-season provided the team with 11 points per game, and a big game 4 in the playoffs with 17 points and 13 assists to avoid elimination.
The Mavericks were still eliminated, but Barea can build off that post-season performance to hopefully give the team another chance at the post-season in a tough Western Conference.
No deal has been signed yet, but the team could set their sights on these two next with little cap space to work with.
