Billy Donovan and the Oklahoma City Thunder are hiring coaching assistants. It seems like any news coming out of OKC now a days is regarding what coaching assistants newly acquired head coach Billy Donovan wants to hire. First it was Monty Williams, who was recently fired by the New Orleans Pelicans, and now it is Maurice Cheeks.

Maurice Cheeks has a lot of NBA experience, even some as a Thunder coach. He was recently seen as the head coach of the Pistons, but that didn’t really work out. Billy Donovan wants to hire some veteran NBA experience so that he can learn from them how to adapt to the different pace the NBA plays at. For the former Florida Gators Head Coach, he will be tested started day one of training camp, because it is championship or nothing for that team.
