Receiving the honour of getting a signature shoe in any sport is the highest of praises. You have become a global icon if your name is what is going to be selling that shoe. Mostly all superstars in the NBA have their own shoe deal, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard and now the Australian native Matthew Dellavedova.
According to Nick DePaula of The Vertical:
Just confirmed with the head of Peak Australia — Matthew Dellavedova won’t be debuting his “Delly 1” shoe in the #NBAfinals.

Peak is working on the “Delly 1” prototypes now and hopes to have them ready for Matthew Dellavedova to debut at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

You might ask yourself, how in the world did Matthew Dellavedova get his own shoe? After his NBA Finals performance last year, a valiant effort in a loss to the Golden State Warriors, Delly was given high praise by teammates and executives around the league, because of his grit and toughness. The Chinese athletic’s apparel company Peak, who has entered the Australian market is hoping to do so, by outfitting the Australian National Team.
“Peak Australia approached me nearly two years ago with the idea of introducing a basketball shoe into the Australian market,” Dellavedova said. “From there, talks became more serious in the past year, and Peak worked hard on developing a shoe. … I can’t wait to unveil them for the first time later this year.”
Australian’s are becoming more and more prominent in the NBA. This year’s potential #1 overall pick will be an Australian born player Ben Simmons. The growing market for basketball in Australia will help the development of even more players coming from down under. Matthew Dellavedova will be the first with a signature shoe deal, so tell me who’s copping a pair of Delly 1’s?
