Matt Bonner will remain in San Antonio, which should surprise no one. Bonner has been a Spur for the past 9 years of his career, after spending his first 2 seasons in Toronto playing for the Raptors.

One team that was pursuing Bonner was the Sacramento Kings. However, the Spurs are a much better team than the Kings, and Bonner’s been in San Antonio for 9 years. That decision can’t have been too difficult.
Bonner’s return will add to an already impressive Spurs bench consisting of David West, Patty Mills, Manu Ginobili, and Ray McCallum.
Along with an exceptionally deep bench, the Spurs also have arguably the best starting 5 in the NBA: Tony Parker, Danny Green, Kawhi Leonard, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Tim Duncan. Add in the best coach in the league(Gregg Popovich) and you get the favorites for the 2015-16 championship.
Bonner will help the Spurs’ bench the same way he always has — by spreading the floor. Bonner certainly isn’t there for his defense or rebounding(just 3.1 rebounds per game for his career despite his 6’10”, 235-pound frame). The Spurs re-signed Bonner to knock down threes. He’s shot a tremendous 41.4% from that range for his career. Bonner brings consistently good shooting at the power forward position, and any team can use that off the bench.
