The Sacramento Kings were in New York over the weekend visiting the Knicks and playing a game at Madison Square Garden on Sunday night. Although the Knicks came out with a victory in the end, the Kings did battle towards the end. In particular, DeMarcus Cousins showed up big in the loss.
But the Kings have the next two nights off before they head to Dallas to being a brutal three game in four-night stretch. Last night, some Sacramento stars stepped out on the town to enjoy the evening in New York. Matt Barnes and DeMarcus Cousins, a pair who has been seen getting pretty chummy over the last week, went out to a club. The pair has been growing close with Barnes recently recording some hilarious antics involving Cousins. From wrestling Ty Lawson to eating cheesesteaks and drinking Hennessy after a canceled game, Barnes has been right by Cousins’ side.
It appears Cousins was once again with Barnes last night and he may have witnessed a possible crime. Matt Barnes is wanted by the NYPD for questioning after he allegedly choked a woman in a nightclub and an altercation ensued. Cousins and Barnes were taped following the incident discussing the alleged assault.
TMZ Sports has a video of Barnes and Cousins following the incident.
Here’s more from TMZ Sports.
Sacramento Kings ?star ?Matt Barnes ?is wanted by NYPD for questioning after he allegedly choked a woman inside a nightclub early Monday morning — and TMZ Sports ?got video of him right after the incident.
Law enforcement sources tell us cops got a 911 call to Avenue Nightclub after midnight, reporting a man assaulting 2 women and another man. We’re told things got physical when Barnes allegedly choked one woman during an argument — and when 2 other people tried to intervene … he punched both of them.
In the video, Matt and a teammate — it appears to be DeMarcus Cousins — are talking about the fight. The teammate is clearly heard saying, “Matt hit the s*** out this ni***!”
Barnes fled the scene before cops showed up.
Both Barnes and Cousins have not yet made a statement. Given their past history, with Cousins having on-court temper issues and Barnes even having some off-court accusations against him involving violence, the court of public opinion might not vibe too well with this latest accusation.
