In Super Bowl XLIX the Seattle Seahawks take on the New England Patriots. A key for the Patriots to achieve victory over the Seahawks will be finding a way to stop All-Pro Running back, Marshawn Lynch. Lynch’s power and tenacious running style is the biggest factor to make Seattle’s offense go.
While Lynch is known for his bruising play on the football field, his game style also translated off the field in the past.
Actually, on the hardwood alongside former NBA Champion with the Boston Celtics, Leon Powe, Lynch was known as a bruiser as well.
Powe, who actually played a pivotal reserve role for the Celtics during their 2008 title run and then played for the Cavaliers and Grizzlies, was a high school basketball teammate of Marshawn Lynch.
From Jessica Camerato of Basketball Insiders.
Powe had been on the receiving end of a hard foul and had to come off the floor because he wanted to retaliate. Lynch saw the play unfold and went on the hunt.
“Marshawn came to me. He said, ‘I got you,’” said Powe. “The following play, the guy got a fast break. He jumped and Marshawn ran out of nowhere — he was fast as lightening, strong. He just, like, speared the guy, tackled him into the stands. He got a flagrant.
“I pulled Marshawn to the side and said, ‘You can’t do that. That’s illegal. You’ll get ejected and kicked out for that. I just wanted you to touch him up a little bit.’ He just laughed, ‘That’s what I do.’ That’s all that he said.”
