In case you haven’t heard, Markieff Morris is at odds with the Phoenix Suns’ organization. After the trade of his twin brother – presumably with no discussion between management and the duo – Morris has made it clear that he no longer wants to play with the Suns. On Thursday, he sent out a signal to those who had somehow missed his hundreds of other similar statements by posting this tweet:
My future will not be in Phoenix…. #thatisall #backtothegrind #FOE
— Keef Morris (@Keefmorris) September 4, 2015
If the Suns were still unsure about Markieff’s future with the team, I think they finally have their answer. At this point, keeping him on the roster is an unwise and unhealthy decision that could potentially tear apart the locker room. Phoenix is likely working hard to trade him wherever possible (with the Raptors, Blazers, Knicks, Wizards, and more as potential landing spots) but they have literally no leverage in trade talks considering everyone knows Morris will not play for the team. As such, Phoenix will likely not gain much for the promising power forward. However, it will gain one very important thing: some peace and quiet.
