Best-selling author Marianne Williamson has kicked off her second presidential campaign. On Saturday, the author spoke to potential voters in Washington, D.C. at Union Station.
“It is our job to create a vision of justice and love that is so powerful that it will override the forces of hatred and injustice and fear,” Williamson said as she addressed potential voters.
“I, as of today, am a candidate for the office of President of the United States.”
Williamson is not new to the political space. Nearly a decade ago, she campaigned as an independent in the state of California for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Back in 2020, she ran for a spot in the Oval Office as a Democrat. Four years later, she has set her sights on Capitol Hill yet again. As a political outsider, she believes that she will bring a new element to the nation’s capital.
“I’m not saying one person can fix it, I’m not saying even one president can fix it. But let me tell you something, a president who lays it down and says it like it is would do a lot of good,” Williamson said.
As a Democratic candidate, she will likely compete against President Joe Biden. Biden has not formally announced that he will run for President, but he has suggested that he will enter the race in the near future.
