The 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio Di Janiero, Brazil are two months away, we are tantalisingly close to the greatest two weeks in sports.
In terms of basketball, we have about a month until the respective countries that are participating in Olympic basketball will start their training camps and get ready to head to South America.
But then we get to Marc Gasol, who is in limbo. He is currently recovering from a foot injury and his odds on playing for native Spain are dwindling by the day. In an interview with AS (Via Sportnado) he talks about his recovery.
“I’m not going to lie, it’s very difficult. Training camp starts in less than a month and I still can’t run.”
“With the exciting new technologies out there, you take away body weight, you can run 50% to 70-80% progressively and not pose a risk to the foot. This weekend is the time to start with this, but I will run in a space where it is not real. It will continue running time to have a real impact on the ground.
This doesn’t sound too promising if you ask me. Even if he could run wouldn’t you still have to get the skills back up to snuff? Doing all that in two months seems quite daunting a task but we’ve seen athletes pull off greater feats.
