The return of Chris Bosh to the Miami Heat, after missing his last 8 games including the Christmas Day matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers, sparked up a Heat team that was in need of a good win. Bosh played his part, but it wasn’t enough as the youthful Orlando Magic beat the Miami Heat, 102-101 in the battle for Florida.
Magic were led by their big man, Nikola Vucevic, who scored 26 points and grabbed 9 rebounds on the night. Victor Oladipo scored 22 points for the Magic and Tobias Harris dropped 18 points for Orlando. Channing Frye came off the bench to score 13 points and Ben Gordon joined him off the bench for 8 points.
Dwyane Wade scored 25 points and handed out 6 assists on the night while shooting a perfect 11 for 11 from the free throw line. Chris Bosh scored 20 points in his return and grabbed 8 rebounds as well. Luol Deng scored 14 points starting for the Heat and Danny Granger came off the bench to score 21 points. Hassan Whiteside also came off the bench and scored 8 points while grabbing 7 rebounds.
Oladipo hit 1 of 2 free throws after being fouled by Bosh as he drove the lane. Wade then had a shot to get the win but threw up a tough, contested shot that fell short.
Orlando Magic are 13-21. Miami Heat are 14-18.
