The official return of LeBron James was met with 90% cheers from the Heat fans. In my opinion. It should’ve been 100%. Four straight NBA Finals and two championships. That was something that could not have been done without LeBron James. I, as a Heat fan recognise that and fully applaud it.
But when the game started. LeBron was just another opponent. LeBron had 4 early turnovers. Mainly because of Luol Deng who Dwyane Wade labelled him as the “player of the game” and rightly so. To lock up the best player in the game was a feat within itself. It just shows that your play don’t change even when you move to another team.
LeBron ended the game with 30 points. But the real boss was Dwyane Wade who ended with 31. 24 of them was in the 1st half.
Deng and Wade combined for 56 points and that made the W for the Heat.
Cleveland were down by double digits several times but always came back. Down by 15? No problem they came back and tied the game at 80. From then on it was a shootout. Turns out that the nail in the Cavs coffin was put in by Danny Granger of all people. Draining a clutch 3 to give the Heat a 10 point lead. This was minutes before he stupidly fouled LeBron as he went up to hammer down a dunk.
Relatively silent all night seemed to be Kevin Love who ended with 14 points. The only time I actually noticed him on the floor was when he got dunked on by Dwyane Wade.
LeBron actually left the game for a few minutes due to left leg tightness. I’ll leave you to draw your own conclusions there to what left leg “tightness” is. Shouldn’t be anything major.
This was a statement win by the Miami Heat. Taking every punch Cleveland threw and then some. They’re still under .500 which is still a problem but to get this kind of win without Chris Bosh is a great morale boost.
