Colin Kaepernick is involved in a bit of drama right now. If you need a refresher as to why or if the rock you lived under became suddenly uninhabitable then here is a quick summary. During a recent preseason game, the San Francisco 49ers star quarterback sat while the National Anthem played in what he says is a protest for people who have been victims of injustice in America.
Now of course, there’s going to be a ton of drama surrounding it. It seems like everyone, just like it is with everything else, has an opinion on it. His old 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh sounded like he had no clue what he was talking about, Niners legendary wide receiver Jerry Rice didn’t agree with Kaep, former Patriots safety and current NFL analyst Rodney Harrison said Kaep wasn’t black and then retracted his statement and Colin’s birth mother voiced her displeasure with Kaep’s actions. Even Tony Stewart talked about it and was met with a ton of backlash. People agree and disagree with Kaepernick but it’s undoubtedly the biggest story in the NFL right now and it’s still only preseason.
While there are a ton of opinions being voiced in tweets, radio interviews and on the television there’s one new medium that will also talk about the controversy. The video game ‘Madden 17’ will include the issue as topic of discussion between commentators. The game will have recurring updates throughout the season but their commentary team getting updated as the season goes on is a new change. It’s a move to help keep the game fresh and their first update will start off with a bang.
Following according to GameSpot.
San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick’s decision to sit during the national anthem during multiple NFL preseason games this month has been one of the most-discussed stories in all of sports. Madden NFL 17 will be updated throughout the season with new commentary from Brandon Gaudin and Charles Davis, to reflect real-world happenings, and this includes Kaepernick’s decision. An EA Sports representative confirmed this with GameSpot today.
“Kaepernick’s decision will be briefly mentioned in-game, reflecting our commitment to authenticity in Madden NFL 17,” a senior publicist for EA Sports said. “Overall, our new commentary will mainly center around on-field performance, as well as major news like trades, free agency signings, and injuries.
Whether you like it or not, this drama is not going anywhere anytime soon.
