Every year the same. It’s December 31st and you’re like “Wow, where did the time go?”, right? So I was thinking about what happened (or not happened) in 2011 and honestly: this year wasn’t that bad musically. Have fun reading and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Rihanna Releases An Album Full of Hits
Rihanna has always been great when it comes to choosing her singles. I can’t think of a single of hers that I really disliked. Yet her albums have been so la la (except for “Good Girl Gone Bad”). So what did her manager say? Let’s produce an album where each song is a potential single. And that is what “Talk That Talk” is. It’s no classic album which will still get praised in 10 years but for this year’s state of music it’s absolutely fantastic. The only thing I can criticize: Why is “Birthday Cake” not a full song? The song is freaking awesome and would easily be my favorite one but having it ending before it really started shortens the listening pleasure extremely.
Justin Bieber Ruins Classic
Seriously, what did they think? I am not quite sure if I am mad at Justin Bieber who thinks he’d be able to cover “All I Want For Christmas Is You” or at Mariah Carey for letting him ruin it. “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is my favorite Christmas song and I can even listen to it in summer because it is just a masterpiece and I got to give Mariah Carey kudos for writing such a classic song. BUT watching the new video with Justin Bieber and tons of Nintendos (hi product placement!) was simply painful – for ears and eyes.

Beyoncé Wants You To Feel The Love That Grows Inside Of Her
It was like a disease that infected sooner or later every tabloid: Beyoncé was pregnant about 347627845637847452 times. NOT. But then at the 2011 VMAs after performing “Love on Top” Beyoncé revealed she and husband Jay-Z, who sat in the audience and reacted enthusiasthically, are expecting a baby. A few weeks later, best friend Kelly Rowland hinted that the couple will have a girl. By the way: The baby should be popping out soon, so you might want to bookmark or make the following page your homepage. That way you won’t miss the important date. https://www.isbabyoncebornyet.com/
Hip Hop Beef Is So 90s…Not For Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj
It’s kinda funny. No, actually is some sort of ridiculous how those two ladies behave. Lil Kim has had her good times and was respected, now Nicki Minaj breaks through after a looooong time without a successful female rapper. But instead of supporting one another, they rather start aguing about…yeah about what?! Who’s badder? Who’s harder? Who’s lamer? I don’t know. And maybe I don’t want to know because I only care about music and not some ridiculous beef that’s hyped on twitter. I cannot wait for Nicki’s sophomore album btw. WOOOHOO!
Emerging Artists That Gave Us Hope
In a time of David Guetta produced club hits and LMFAO’s party rocking songs, a true music lover simply appreciates the sound of The Weeknd and Frank Ocean. I don’t want to talk dance sound down but am I the only one who thinks that Taio Cruz’ songs sound all the same?! So listening to Ocean’s “nostalgia/ULTRA” and The Weeknd’s three mixtapes “Echoes of Silence”, “House of Balloons” and “Thursday” is a must-do.
I have high hopes that Frank Ocean and The Weeknd will use their potential and deliver great albums and maybe set the trend to go back to good music.
We’re Still Waiting For That Dre Album
I mean, yeah… getting botox from any doctor seems to be freaking easy but getting “Detox” from Dr. Dre…oh boy, I wouldn’t bet my money on a release date. But hey, good things come to those who wait. So let’s continue waiting.
JoJo Kills “Marvin’s Room”
I’ve never been a great Drake fan, although I really dig “Take Care”, but when I heard JoJo’s rendition of “Marvin’s Room” I was blown away. She really took it to another level. When it comes to covering a song to display the other gender’s perspective a lot of people fail but JoJo didn’t and I really would love it if she finally released her own album and if she got the chance to record a song together with Drake, she would murder it again. For sure.
I know it’s Saturday but…Friday, Friday, Gotta Get Down on Friday
