On Thursday, August 24, the first images of Lola Brooke’s cover shoot with Wonderland Magazine popped up online. With styling from Katherine Mateo and photography from Chinazam Ojukwu, the New York native sports a multitude of fall and winter looks backed by a sky-blue background. The fashion-forward photos are complemented by a cover story written by Aswan Rosa Marie. Marie and Brooke spoke about all things Hip-Hop and New York, including the culture’s 50th birthday and her forthcoming project.
“[The project’s] gonna be an emotional rollercoaster,” Brooke said about her forthcoming project.
“I don’t feel like people know me. They just know of me right now, but they don’t fully know how long the book [of Brooke] is. This project will introduce them to Lola Brooke.”
Lola Brooke graces the cover of Wonderland Magazine after a jam-packed weekend of performances and interviews. The emerging New York talent appeared on AMP with Gabe P. and Nyla Symone on Thursday before performing at Angie Martinez’s annual summer BBQ and the Genius IQ BBQ in Queens. Wrapping up the weekend, she performed at Amazon’s City Sessions in her hometown of New York, New York.
Covering our Autumn/Fall 2023 issue, Wonderland spoke to Lola Brooke a week ahead of Hip-Hop’s 50th anniversary where it felt more women than ever were being celebrated for their contributions to the genre.
