But team success doesn’t mean business stops for the NBA owners, Leslie Alexander included. The man who purchased the Rockets in 1993 for $85 million is looking to invest in the soaring success of his franchise and the NBA as a whole. He has put the team up for sale.

The Rockets recently acquired Chris Paul from the Los Angeles Clippers and also signed their star James Harden to a huge max extension, the largest in NBA history. With a pursuit of Carmelo Anthony on the horizon and a team being built for a chance to compete against the Golden State Warriors, it’s an odd move to see the owner look to move away from the team when they’re approaching their peak. There may be something else going on behind-the-scenes we all might not know quite yet.
