Nearly a year after unveiling Electric Dusk, Leon Thomas is ready to return with a new body of work. On Friday, August 9, he set the stage for his next album with the release of “Mutt.”
Working off of a soulful soundscape developed by producers D. Phelps and Freaky Rob, Leon Thomas pushes past the playboy ways highlighted in “Sneak” and “Crash & Burn.” Instead, he’s trying to let his guard down for someone special as he lays his past behind him. Still, he’s sure to let her know that deep down, he still feels like he’s a dog, which will turn their relationship sour at some point.
“I have smoked already, so pardon my bluntness. I see past pretty faces, so I got trouble trusting,” he sings.
“But I’ll let my guard down for you. [I] said I’ll put my guard down for you. [I] said I’ll be vulnerable, so you can break my heart if you want to.”
The release of “Mutt” not only sets the stage for his upcoming album, but it also paves the way for the I’ll Always Come Find You Tour. Beginning October 1, he’ll hit the road with Joony, Joyce Wrice and BLXST for shows in select cities. While fans wait for the tour to kick off, check out “Mutt” below.
