The children of the mid-1990s can finally rejoice! The memorable Nickelodeon game show of the mid-1990s, Legends of the Hidden Temple, has been revived at the CW. However, there is a minor twist. This time around, it will feature adults going through the different obstacles, puzzles and games. If you’re someone who grew up on the Nickelodeon game show, this could be your second chance at living out your childhood dream.
Many of the show’s original elements will be present in the highly-anticipated reboot. Contestants will still be split into teams known as the Purple Parrots, Blue Barracudas, Orange Iguanas, Red Jaguars, Silver Snakes and Green Monkeys. The CW also promises to bring back things such as the talking Mayan head, the steps of knowledge and Temple Run.
Legends of the Hidden Temple is CW’s latest attempt at entering into the non-scripted reality space. The network has recently brought British series like Would I Lie To You? and Killer Camp to the U.S. With Channel 4 recently ending the British version of The Circle, the CW could potentially bring the British edition of the reality series into American homes as well.
“We’ve always been incredibly interested in the alternative space but we do sense that there’s even more opportunity. We’ve been aggressively looking in the marketplace,” CW executive Gaye Hirsch told Deadline.
For the time being, the network will work towards a new season of All-American, the ending of Black Lightning and a Nancy Drew spin-off.
