The Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has always had a chip on his shoulder since he first suited up for the organization back in 2012.
Green was selected in the second round (35th overall) and has proven to be a huge steal for the team as he’s proven he can do it all.
In 2012 Green claimed that when LeBron was in Miami, James trash talked him after a play which motivated Green to this day which James remembers the story a little differently.
Q: LeBron, Draymond remembers when he was a rookie the first time I think he faced you when you were with the Heat in 2012. There was a play in the post that you kind of abused him and you said, You’re too small. He said that motivated him to this day; he still thinks about it. Do you remember the moment, and what do you think of the way he’s evolved since that moment in his rookie year?
LeBron James: Well, if you knew Draymond, he started the trash talking first in that game. I’m not much of a trash talker, but he started it first his rookie year. So don’t let him try to start-up a story on why he’s motivated because I said something. He started it, and I finished it (smiling).
So I went to the archives and found the video of the play in 2012 that Green was talking about.
James drives down the lane to score on Green which the two clearly say something to one another after the play.
I know Draymond does play with his heart on his sleeve and isn’t shy about his opinion on or off the court which isn’t a bad thing, but I can see James trying to show the rookie at the time a thing or two and saying a couple things to him.
Draymond is a player though that fuels his own fire by trash talking and gets that edge from the reaction the player may say in return, and he’s a high energy guy because of this. Green could have been trying to start that fire by telling James a thing or two which caused a reaction from James.
Green like everyone else has his own opinion on James, and it’s clear he isn’t his biggest fan.
Green’s tweets about LeBron James:
“LeBron’s size doesn’t even give Deshawn Stevenson problems.”
“LeBron has hot water in his veins lmao.”
“LeBron is two rings behind Sasha Vujacic.”
