Now over a week removed from the NBA Finals and the conclusion of the season, fans and players alike still don’t know who will be earning the league’s highest honors for their 2018 campaign.
As opposed to years past, the NBA opted to hold their annual awards show not only after the season concluded but even after the 2018 NBA Draft. With the 2018 NBA Awards show scheduled in the heart of the offseason instead of immediately following the regular season, LeBron James won’t be able to make the noteworthy event due to a family vacation, according to USA Today’s Sam Amick.
Amid all this Kawhi news, a tidbit on LeBron: He won't be attending the NBA awards show in LA on June 25, I'm told, because he'll be on vacation with the family.

Though LeBron James is one of the finalists for the MVP award along with James Harden and Anthony Davis, he will bypass the awards show set to take place in Los Angeles on June 25. Being in the discussion for MVP is nothing new for James, however, and the award will likely end up going to James Harden anyways after his fantastic season.
Though it’s not surprising for James to be on family vacation during the awards show, the NBA will certainly miss having its poster boy and global ambassador in attendance for the event.
James has bigger fish to fry than worrying about the 2018 NBA Awards show anyhow, as he is focused on figuring out where he will call home for next season and beyond. The LeBron James free agency sweepstakes will officially begin once the clock hits midnight on July 1.
